Mariah Carey may join American Idol

More American Idol shake-ups! This week, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez confirmed that they will not be returning next season and now, Randy Jackson has also announced that he will be leaving the show, although he will remain involved as a mentor.

With so many empty spots on the judges panel, rumours are swirling like crazy as to who will make up the new cast. We’ve already reported that past Idol contestant, Adam Lambert, is a frontrunner for a spot but reports are saying that pop icon, Mariah Carey, might sign on as well.

“They are in serious talks with Mariah and it’s very close to being a done deal,” a source tells US Weekly. This makes sense as Carey’s manager is Randy Jackson.
