It’s actually dangerous

Marianas Trench front man Josh Ramsay is a seasoned pop music veteran. In 2013, Ramsay scored a Grammy nod for his songwriting work on Carly Rae Jepsen’s break out hit Call Me Maybe. He’s written for Emily Osment, Faber Drive, Girlicious, Suzie McNeil, Jessica Lee and his own band, Marianas Trench, who boast countless Juno and MMVA noms.
It’s safe to say that Ramsay knows his way around a soundboard, so why not share some of his know-how with the rest of the world? Ramsay and his bandmates have now released Pop 101, an upbeat, well, pop song, that literally lays out step by step how to get a chart-topping sound.
Not only that, but the band also gives a quick lesson in different pop sounds. Want folk? Maybe some 808s? Let Pop 101 be your reference guide.
The song, which is both hilarious and incredibly catchy, is available now on iTunes. Oh, and it barely features vocals from Anami Vice. Just barely.Tweet
