OK so I’m interviewing Poison and possibly RATT later today!!! Between them they have sold about 45 million albums worldwide, say what you want but NOBODY is selling records like that anymore.
I know a lot of people will say that grunge pretty much put an end to the hair metal bands of that era and caused a shift in music, and for the most part I think that is very, very true and makes me feel like the musical gods were good to us at that time.
It’s my argument however that this music never really died, it just has been presented in a new form sometimes called “post grunge”. It got me thinking about what bands today are just filling the void for that type of watered down hard rock that still sells millions.
Here is what I mean…and please feel free to post your own Now and Then comparisons…or disagree with me.
Now: Nickelback
Then: 1987′s Bon Jovi
Now: The Used
Then: 1989′s Motley Crue
Now: Default
Then: 1987′s White Lion
Is this mean? And to what bands am I being mean is the real question.
Check out The Loop Weekend for my interview with Poison this Saturday 11am ET and 11pm ET Sunday.
