I’m begging you to buy Dave Bidini’s new book Around The World In 57 And 1/2 Gigs - it’s seriously excellent.

It’s basically a year is his life as he deals with the end of his band The Rheostatics and performs solo shows from Finland to Russia to China to Newfoundland. He attempts to find himself musically and find out what the state of rock and roll is all over the world. Dave has written some truly radical books (I mean radical the way Spicoli would say it).

He is a hardcore Canadian; from his books to his music he wears that Maple Leaf on his sleeve and THAT is worth supporting in itself as far as I’m concerned, let alone the fact that he is a great writer and was part of one of the truly great bands our country has produced. The scales of my musical days teeter between reporting on who’s dating who or who wore what on the red carpet to ACTUAL musical related stories like this one…and I was sure to thank Dave for helping me balance the scale when I chatted with him last week.
