Men’s alpine skiing event delayed

The men’s alpine downhill skiing event scheduled for this afternoon has been delayed due to weather concerns. The slopes were hit with heavy snow and then rain that made the hills unusable. Officials have stated the weather conditions should improve by Monday, when the men’s event could take place.

This is the second event postponed at the 2010 games. Already the women’s super-combined skiing event was delayed because practice runs were not possible. The luge track on which Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili passed away yesterday, however, has been reopened and luge events are expected to continue as usual.
