Men, Women & Children & All of Our Worst Fears About Technology

August 19th, 2014

Everyone! Stop looking for online love affairs, cyber bullying and sending nudie pics for just a couple minutes so you can watch this trailer and remember how bad those things are 4 us. The trailer for Jason Reitman’s new movie Men, Women and Children just came out. And boy oh boy is it an on the nose commentary of our times.

I think this movie actually looks really good, but my cynical side is imagining people in ten years watching this movie and finding it hilarious like when we see people using cell phones in 80s movies. My dream for this movie is for it to play like a 2014 American Beauty and I think I may be right about it. Reitman is known to be a fan.

This film has a lot of things working for it. The cast of this movie is very impressive; Adam Sandler, Jennifer Garner, JK Simmons, Judy Greer (brap!)and Ansel Elgort. I love a good, “disparate lives intersecting” story line. Also, I’m a big fan of Adam Sandler going dramatic. Get on that Punch Drunk Love stat. Making a movie about the digital world not feel instantly dated is tough but I have faith in Reitman, our Canadian filmmaking prince.

Not surprisingly, the movie will premiere at TIFF. His dad is basically the godfather of the festival and he has had Thank You For Smoking, Juno, Up In The Air and Labour Day all show at TIFF.
