M.I.A. uses Flip cam for new video

M.I.A. is always ahead of the game. I mean, who else would hire A-list video director Hype Williams to shoot the video for her new album’s only real shot at commercial success and then intercut it with homemade footage?
Well, that’s exactly what M.I.A. has done. In an interview with 102.7 KIIS FM yesterday, she admitted that although Hype had done a shoot for her new single “XXXO,” she has shot some of her own footage to use on a Flip cam.
“I had to reshoot the video on a Flip, so I’m gonna edit in some Hype Williams footage and some Flip footage, and you guys can check out the video really soon,” she said. “I’ve been sort of animating and shit and stuff.”
We’ve come to expect the unexpected from M.I.A., though considering her background is in visual art, we can surely expect the video will be something jaw-dropping.
