The official first single from Michael Jackson’s upcoming album was released on his website on the weekend. “Hold My Hand,” features Akon and will be the lead track on Michael which comes out on December 14.
There has been a lot of debate around whether or not Michael’s songs should be released after his death since he is unable to give final approval. Michael reportedly wrote a note where he said he wanted to have “Hold My Hand” released as a single. But, Will.i.am. said earlier this year, “To say that what [Michael] contributed during his life wasn’t enough. He just wasn’t any ordinary artist. He was a hands-on person. To me it’s disrespectful. There’s no honoring.”
The new song is a call for peace with a big gospel choir and string section. The album will also feature spots from Lenny Kravitz and 50 Cent.
