After dating for three years, 19 year-old Miley Cyrus and 22 year-old Liam Hemsworth have announced their engagement. The couple revealed to People Magazine that they got engaged on May 31st, after Hemsworth spent time with celebrity jeweler Neil Lane to design Cyrus’ one of kind, 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond ring.

The couple have fended off engagement rumours in the past, but now feel like they are ready to take the walk down the aisle. The two actors met while filming their Nicholas Sparks film adaptation of The Last Song and have been public with their relationship, supporting one another at industry events and discussing their relationship publicly over the years. Cyrus even enlisted the help of MTV this year to help her punk Hemsworth, tricking him into thinking a naked couple had broken into her car.

Miley took to her Twitter account today to share her excitement over her pending nuptials, saying “Thank you for all the love today. I’m happy to share this news with you all. I feel like all my dreams are coming true.” Congrats to the happy couple! But seriously, 19 years old? Part of me thinks ‘get it gurl’ and the other part thinks ‘if you’re too young to legally drink at your wedding you may be too young to get married’. That’s not to say I wouldn’t totally RSVP ‘yes’ if I was invited to the wedding.
