MMVA08: Devon’s Prep For The Big Show

On the Red Carpet @ last year’s MMVAs
10:30pm. Thursday night. Do you know where the Much VJs are? Most probably…at work.
Yes, as you probably know it’s MMVA time. Now while it’s honestly the best time of year for MuchMusic fans, it’s also the busiest time of year for Much VJs and producers…often here 18 hours a day for the week leading up to the show…and my BBQ habits are not making my life any easier. Let me explain.
After prepping for the Red Carpet Show all day today, writing, researching and coffee drinking, I decided I needed to take a much needed fresh air break to clear my mind for a few minutes. Don’t I get three steps out of the building before I’m side swiped by Jay and Eon from Bedouin Soundclash. Now, to put this blog into context, I’ve known the boys of Bedouin for a long time through a mutual friend, long before I was a VJ and long before they were performing on Much, or the MMVAs for that matter. So basically, we go WAY back.
In my long years of knowing Pat, Eon and Jay, I’ve also learned that when the four of us get together, I end up making terrible decisions. I mean TERRIBLE. 99% of which I can’t write in this blog. It honestly just happens. They dragged me to a swanky rooftop BBQ party, where we ate burgers and drank beer for two hours in the hot summer sun. Which SEEMS like a great idea, except for when you have to be at work well into the night prepping for the biggest show of the year.
The result is me now at my desk, full of burgers, beer and chardonnay trying my best to concentrate with a sunshine headache, on trying to ask Rihanna about Chris Brown and not seem like a douchebag while doing it. GOOOOOD LUCK Devon!
In response to Matte’s blog regarding after parties. Yes, there are TONS of different parties going on all over the city the night of the MMVAs, but there’s only one OFFICIAL party, and it’s at Ultra. Don’t believe the hype. Ultra is the spot. Be there or be…extremely disappointed.

!!! I was wondering what that line was for. I work right across the street from where that rooftop party was held. I was walking home when I see a small line formed and Wade from Alexisonfire standing there.
So who else was there? Whats the occasion? What did I miss?
