This is the one MMVA category where safe sound levels don’t matter. In other words, turn your speakers up to 11 and let your eardrums scream for mercy – here are the nominees for the MuchLOUD Best Rock Video.
Hedley – She’s So Sorry

In the video for She’s So Sorry, what starts off as a jealousy-fueled scuffle in a darkened alleyway quickly transforms into a full-on jam session in a bare Fight Club-esque warehouse. Hedley’s frontman, Jacob Hoggard, screams his “get out of my way” lyrics at the girl who has broke his heart with such force that an inclusion into the MuchLOUD category is inevitable. Break-ups can be this angry, but they usually never sound this good.
illScarlett – Nothing Special

In the video for Nothing Special, illScarlett, the boys from Mississauga, ON, perfectly capture the “make your own fun” spirit of growing up in the suburbs. illScarlett skew the classic rock and roll sound with their reggae and ska influences, however the single is pure Loud material. It starts off with a whisper but quickly explodes into an infectious and melodic yell-a-thon that’s no match for your feeble speakers.
Simple Plan – When I’m Gone

The girl in the video for Simple Plan’s When I’m Gone constantly has frontman Pierre Bouvier on the brain. Everywhere she turns, there he is: on billboards, on the cover of magazines, even in the form of her waiter. With one listen of When I’m Gone, you’ll have a similar reaction: it’s so catchy that you’ll be finding it extremely difficult to get this foot-stompin’ tune out of your head.
SUM 41 – With Me

In a music category of all things Loud, one needs to include a ditty that perhaps goes a little soft – ya know, to keep things interesting – thus the inclusion of SUM 41′s With Me. Can this rock ballad (with its sweet lyrics but guitar riffs and drum pounding) hold its own? Most definitely. Who’s with me?!
The Trews – Hold Me In Your Arms

The video for The Trews’ Hold Me In Your Arms has it all: a dark warehouse, sparks a’flyin’, heavy electric guitar thrashing and a sound that is pure classic rock. In a category full of youngins, these guys show how it’s really done: Loud and to-the-point.
