This past February I popped my cherry. My CANCUN SPRINGBREAK cherry! What’s up MuchMusic readers, I’m Becca. I’m a 3rd year Communications student at McMaster University. Woop woop! I grew up in the small town of Uxbridge (Google it) and moved to Hamilton where I now live with four girlfriends and one boy (yes, he knows he is lucky). By some completely surreal turn of events my two best friends, Martha and Mandy, and myself ended up being chosen as the VJs down in Cancun on our memorable and extreme Spring Break.

After a four-week countdown on my bedroom mirror it was finally time for us to hop on our plane to the crazy city of Cancun, Mexico. Traveling with two Cancun Spring Breaker veterans I was more than ready to rock my bikini and sip out of coconuts with the hot sand between my toes. Not a care in the world, the stresses of school and the grumbles of our hungry-for-junk-food tummies left in the Hammer, I felt like nothing could make this trip any better…and I’d only been there for about thirty seconds. To my surprise, the trip did get better, WAY better than anything I could have ever concocted in my head.

With more than a few fruity cocktails in the system we had decided it was time to bust out some dance moves on the beach. You should see Martha break it down! Somewhere between Miami Vice #8 and Cerveza #15 I was tapped on the shoulder with a had a microphone put in my hand and a large camera staring me in the face listening to our amazing and ridiculously cute producer, Dee, tell us that we had been chosen to be the VJs for Much Music in Cancun. Safe to say I don’t exactly remember my reaction (or much of the day) but I’m sure the footage is something along the lines of “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”

With the secret fantasy of working with MuchMusic living in the back of my head and a little bit of liquid…fine A LOT of liquid confidence I took this opportunity and ran with it. Lucky for me I had two best friends running with me…or in Mandy’s case, running and then face planting.

MuchMusic had us do some amazing things together, from being asked to find the three hottest guys on the beach (Chris “the charmer”, Bryan “the joker” and Darrel “the hot & spicy firefighter”) to go on a snorkeling adventure, to swimming with dolphins and feeding sharks…bull sharks held accountable for 80% of all shark “incidents” FYI. One of them looked me right in the eye like I was the most delicious treat, I swear! But hey, I’m the kind of girl that’s down to try most things at least once (get your mind out of the gutter) because like a lot of things in life, you might only get one chance to do it.

Besides all the PG rated fun we got to do with Much during the day, the night life in Cancun is indescribable…mostly because you’re partying too hard to remember it. We were lucky enough to spend more than a few nights VIP with the amazingly talented and super cool band, Down With Webster. They were all amazing guys and after watching them perform live at The City where they opened for Lil’ Jon (YEAHH!) I can safely say that they are incredible performers and I wish them the best of luck with the rest of their long careers in the music industry! Muah!

I could type my fingers off on this blog about our vacation – the sun, the beach, the boys and the clubs but all you really need to know is that you HAVE to go experience Spring Break in Cancun for yourself to really know how incredible it is. And even if you don’t get to live like a VJ for a week like we did, it will still be a memory to keep forever. So grab your wolf pack, a positive attitude and your beach bod and we’ll see you there next year! Love, Becca x
