Monday Musings: Weezer, Velvet Revolver, Boy George

How does everyone feel about the new Weezer Pork And Beans? Despite some questionably written lyrics, the song is pretty ace, thanks to a ridiculously catchy chorus. Stream it on the band’s website.
The remaining members of Velvet Revolver are planning to hold online auditions to replace Scott Weiland, who left the band on April 1 to rejoin Stone Temple Pilots.
And Boy George is touring North America again for the first time over a decade. Very, very bizarre. In support of what, exactly? Canadian dates:

August 12 @ Metropolis, Montreal
P.S.: Completely unrelated, but tarting tomorrow, a junkload of TV show theme ringtones will be available in the shop. Personally, I’m going to be buying the Golden Girls theme song, Thank You For Being A Friend.

I’m a Weezer fan, but the new song is just OK. The dig at Timbaland is pretty funny though. But overall, I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do with this song.
I think this is my issue: their old stuff (a la Blue Album) is pretty great, and even though this song sounds like it could be on that album, new material that sounds like the Blue Album now sounds dated and stale. Make sense? Yeah, I make sense.
