Miley, Charlie and more!
January 20th, 2014
As we all know, Justin Timberlake has dominated Saturday Night Live as both host and performer so many times now that it practically feels like he’s an honourary cast member. But what we didn’t know is that another artist would match (or even surpass?) Timberlake’s comedic chops on late night TV.
We’ve already broken down everything we loved about Drake’s appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last week, but the Canadian rapper followed that up with a stellar episode of Saturday Night Live this past weekend that has us thinking he might be the new Justin Timberlake…
Let’s take a look at Drizzy’s funniest moments on Saturday, shall we? Starting with this great opening monologue:
Right off the bat, he knocks off everything on the Drake/SNL drinking game checklist:
- Any mention of Canada/Toronto
- Degrassi shout out
- Telling everyone his real name (Aubrey Graham)
- Rob Ford shout out
- Telling everyone’s his Jewish
And, of course, this beautiful piece of poetry from when he re-enacted his Bar Mitzvah:
Then came the sketches.
There was the best Lil Wayne impersonation we’ve ever seen:
And of course #DadDrake:
Look at him:
He literally did this:
This Resolution Revolution music video is the best thing Pitbull never did.
Also, COSPLAY DRAKE.
What’s even better than Cosplay Drake? #DRAKETHIGHS.
And let’s not forget his performances. Oh my, his performances. Four songs, all performed under a simple red/blue light and we dug every minute of it.
Started From the Bottom transitioning into one of his latest singles Trophies, YES.
And a slow-jam version of Hold On, We’re Going Home going into a From Time performance featuring Jhene Aiko, BEST.
Overall verdict: TWO THUMBS UP (Now someone get Drake AND Justin Timberlake on SNL at the same time, please.)
