Hay there, Much-Maniacs!

Well, you followed her on Twitter … you viewed her vids on Youtube … you friended, fanned and favourited her on Facebook … YOU, MuchMusic viewers, have helped your girl rise to the top of the pack. LIZ TRINNEAR IS THE WINNER OF MUCHMUSIC VJ 2.0 AHHH!!

Journalistic impartiality be damned – I am SO EFFING PSYCHED about this! I’m not just saying this because we’re London cronies (UWO, represent!), but Liz Trinnear is one straight-up bomb chicka. Not only is she kind-hearted, whip-smart and delightfully quirky to the core – she knows more about music than any human I’ve ever encountered in real life.

Of course, I’m bummed that I won’t be able to watch Laith, Marlon and Alli on MuchMusic next week, but who knows what the future will hold? They’re all ridonkulously talented young whipper-snappers. Maybe we’ll be seeing them in the winners circle again one day. MuchMusic VJ 3.0 anybody? Just a thought…

Anyways, I was lucky enough to score an exclusive, fresh off the floor, hot out of the oven, post-MOD madness interview with our brand new VJ before she jumped right into her new gig and joined Sarah on the WTF couch! Ch-ch-check it out:

Lauren O’Nizzle: OMG Liz – You. Are. Much. Music’s. New. VJ. How do you feel right now?

Liz Trinnear: Unbelievable! It’s… I’m pretty speechless – not gunna lie. I can’t even sum it up into a sentence right now.

LO: I don’t blame you – this is huge. When you and Alli were standing up there and they were about to announce the winner – what was going through your mind?

LT: I was just staring at the snowboards on the ground, concentrating on them, trying not to fall over, saying “Please say Liz, Please say Liz, Please say Liz” over and over again in my head.

LO: And then they said “LIZ”! How excited were you?!

LT: I can’t even describe it! I almost smoked Tim in the face with my microphone I’m pretty sure *laughs*

LO: This is obviously going to change your life in a very big way…

LT: Well apparently, I’m going to need to get a place to live in Toronto!

LO: Hahaha, yeah – London to the T-dot every day would be one betch of a commute. I know that you’re an excellent student at UWO – what does this new job mean for your school career?

LT: Well I’ve already got my three year BA, so I’ll probably just finish up with this semester and then come and start my little adventure here!

LO: What are you looking forward to the most?

LT: Everything! Just being around MuchMusic and this environment every day. Talking with musicians that are so inspiring, interacting with the audience…

LO: The fans LOVE you, eh?

LT: Honestly, I can say nothing but thank-you to the fans. It was due to them that I was even noticed. At the end of the day, it was the fan support that brought me here. It’s because of them that MuchMusic took notice of my video – their hits, their nice comments…

LO: You’re pretty much famous now! How does it feel to have FANS and stuff?

LT: It’s so weird. I mean, I’m still in school! I’m just a kid who’s just like you – it’s crazy to think that I’ve taken a fan base. I was just one of them yesterday – today, I guess!

LO: What do you want everybody who’s watched you in this competition to know?

LT: That I’m still the same person – I just have a job title now! *laughs* I don’t think it’s sunk in yet – I’m brand spanking new – Jesse isn’t the new kid anymore! I’m going to be the butt of all the jokes around here…

LO: Speaking of your new co-workers, Devon put it well when he said that this is the beginning of a new career for you. A lot of VJs have gone on to do huge things after leaving MuchMusic– what does the future hold for you?

LT: I’m keeping my future completely open – at this point in the game I’m just a little sponge soaking it all in. I don’t know exactly where I’ll be in the future – but I completely idolize George Stroumboulopoulos- he’s so cool and smart. He conducts some of the best interviews ever.

LO: Well in that case – I’m going to speed-fire you some questions, Strombo style – ready?

LT: Shoot.

LO: Gossip girl or The Hills?

LT: Gossip Girl. I know its scripted, but it’s so much more intense. That akward threesome really caught me off guard – and the music is amazing.

LO: Simpsons or Family Guy?

LT: Simpsons.

LO: GOOD ANSWER. Favourite food?

LT: Pizza – I love pizza. Cheese pizza – or veggie delight. *homer simpson drool* <-(added for effect. Liz did not actually drool – visibly.)

LO: How many times a day do you tweet?

LT: At least 8. No, maybe 5 – on average.

LO: Your favourite internet vid?

LT: Scarlet takes a tumble *laughs* – This girl that falls… It’s so mean, but it’s funny…

LO: Who’s your BFF?

LT: L-Squared.

LO: Pets?

LT: My goldfish passed away…

LO: Oooh… sorry. If you could interview anybody – who would it be?

LT: Chris Martin of Coldplay, or Gwen Stefani.

LO: Is that why your Twitter name is LAMBified?

LT: Lamb was my nickname in highschool. I was pale and platinum blonde and I had a Lamb Chop T-shirt, so people were just like “what up, Lamb?”

LO: Hahaha, nice. What are you going to bring to MuchMusic that’s unique and undeniably Liz Trinnear?

LT: You know, I’m akward, I’m quirky – I don’t always say the right things… but at the same time I’m real – I’ve been through all the experiences. I’ve battled through highschool – I’ve surpassed so many obstacles. I think that I’ll bring a new fresh realness to the station… and my passion for music – that’s the main thing. I eat, sleep and breathe music.

LO: Any last words for the blog-o-verse?

LT: If people can take anything from this, I want them to know that you can chase your dreams – put out as much effort as you can… MuchMusic is still a dreamworld for me.
