The somewhat influential British music magazine NME held its annual Shockwaves NME Awards ceremony last night, where My Chemical Romance walked away with two of the biggest honours.
The New Jersey rockers beat stiff competition from Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon, The Drums and Vampire Weekend to take hom Best International Band, while their single “Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)” received the gong for Best Video.
Best Album went to Arcade Fire, whose Suburbs, recently took home a Grammy and BRIT Award for the same honour.
British acts Muse and Foals, respectively, won Best British Band and Best Track for “Spanish Sahara,” and suave newcomers Hurts were recognized as Best New Band.
Esteemed honours went to Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, who received the Godlike Genius Award, which has previously been given to the likes of New Order, U2, The Clash and Primal Scream. PJ Harvey was also honoured with the Teenage Cancer Trust Outstanding Contribution to Music Award.
