N.E.R.D. to stream live concert tonight

November 1st, 2010

The new album by N.E.R.D. is set to drop tomorrow, and on the eve of its release the band are set to play a live concert that will be streamed online.

Tonight Pharrell, Chad and Shay will hit the stage to play a free show as part of the Sprite Spark the Studio Series. Previous concerts that were held included Jasmine V. and Good Charlotte.

About the concert, Pharrell said, “We have great respect for those creating new and meaningful ways to bring people together to experience and celebrate music. So as soon as we heard about this we knew we wanted to be a part of it. Since not everyone can make it out to see our live shows, we feel really good that this time we’re bringing the show to our fans.”

Of course, there is a slight catch. You need to buy a bottle of Sprite to watch. Through a special mobile code offered online and under the cap of 20-oz Sprite bottles, fans can unlock online access to watch intimate in-studio live performances, streamed in real-time only. What’s cool about this though is that during the performances, these special codes will allow fans to request songs, discuss the performances with other fans in real time, and give you the chance to interact with the artists directly.

The concert begins at 9:00 p.m. EST.
