NBC Apologizes for M.I.A. Super Bowl Middle Finger

Oh M.I.A. What shenanigans have you gotten yourself into this time? After the singer gestured the middle finger while she was performing at the Super Bowl halftime show, NBC has addressed the issue, and apologized for airing the footage. “The NFL hired the talent and produced the halftime show,” NBC said in a statement to the Hollywood Reporter. “Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers.”

M.I.A. gave the cameras the middle finger during her line of “I don’t give a sh*t,” in Madonna’s performance of Give Me All Your Luvin. “The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing, and we apologize to our fans,” said spokesman Brian McCarthy in a statement.
