Longtime Free The Children supporters and friends Nelly Furtado and Spencer West teamed up for Furtado’s new lyrical video for her single Spirit Indestructible off the singer’s upcoming album of the same name. West, a double amputee, got involved with Free The Children after high school and quickly became one of the organization’s most recognizable and sought-after speakers. West and Furtado both participated in Toronto’s 2011 We Day, where Furtado donated $1 million to help build schools for girls in Kenya.
West made worldwide news recently when he took on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro on his hands in an effort to raise awareness and financial support for clean water projects in Africa. Nelly’s new lyrical video chronicles West’s amazing journey as his week-long hike takes him to the top of one of the world’s most famous summits.
After watching the video, West said “Spirit Indestructible is amazing and has such a powerful message. I am extremely humbled to be featured along side of such a inspirational song. The clips that were chosen for the lyrics are awesome and although its only been a few weeks, seeing them brought back so many memories from our climb!” You can find out more and Spencer’s inspiring journey and Free The Children here.
