Last week Kelly Clarkson‘s brand new single, My Life Would Suck Without You, catapulted from its entry spot at #97 the previous week all the way to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Previously Britney Spears held the record for the highest leap on the charts with Womanizer. And the last time Kelly broke that record was with her very first single, the American Idol staple A Moment Like This.
The new song is a winner in the same vein of Since U Been Gone and if you see similarities it’s because Dr. Luke and Max Martin co-produced and co-wrote that song too. It literally starts with the same chords and it’s got the signature stop ‘n restart at 2:32 that Since U Been Gone is so famous for, plus Kelly’s usual Carrie/Big-esque “We belong together/I’m glad you’re out of my life/I can’t imagine my life without you” indecision.
I caught wind of the song a few days ago and now I can listen to little else – I’m a big Kelly supporter and this song gives me hope that the new album will pick up where My December left off.
The new album, All I Ever Wanted, is out March 10.
