“This is how we do it/It’s Friday night/And I feel alright/The party is here at the theatres/Gonna see a movie ‘cause MuchMusic told me to”

K, maybe I changed Montell Jordan’s lyrics a bit, but it IS Friday, and I DO feel alright! Time to check out what is opening in theatres today.

When in Rome: Beth, played by Kristen Bell, is unlucky in love. That is, until she flies to Rome for her sisters wedding and takes some coins from a ‘love fountain.’ Once back home in New York, Beth is aggressively pursued by those whose coins she took from the fountain. The film stars Bell, along with Josh Duhamel, Dax Shepard, Will Arnett and Jon Heder.

Edge of Darkness: Mel Gibson plays a retired homicide detective whose daughter is killed after being shot in his house. While investigating her death, Gibson finds that his daughter led a secret life that included a government conspiracy. The film stars Mel Gibson and Ray Winstone.

Grown Up Movie Star: This film is already grabbing critical acclaim at Sundance for its young actress, Regina-born Tatiana Maslany. Maslany plays the daughter of a failed NHL player who is disgraced from the league after a drug bust. The family is torn apart by secrets and demons that each member carries with them. The film was shot in Newfoundland and stars Maslany, Shawn Doyle and Jonny Harris.
