Let me tell you a story. A Tuesday tale if you will.

I’m a big Beirut fan, and so when I missed their recent Toronto show I was upset to say the least. Bummed out. Sad. Not happy. Etc. Being this mix bag of emotions, I just had to ask my friend how the show was, for she was far more filled with luck then I. And what did she tell me when I asked her how it was?

She asked if I’ve heard of The Dodos before. The San Francisco upbeat folk band had opened the Beirut show and this friend of mine could not stop talking about how great their opening set was. I thought “Hm perhaps I should give these fellows a listen” but then forgot, as I have a forgetful mind.

Cut to today. The Dodos’ new album Time To Die has leaked, and instead of whining about it the band decided to stream their album online so we can all hear the nice put together quality version.

So I take a listen…

Pretty good right!? Folk-y, mellow, but upbeat! With a pinch of rock! If you like Fleet Foxes, Cold War Kids, The National, and/or summer campfires you’ll love The Dodos! I can’t wait to get their album (digitally available July 28th) and play it whilst BBQ-ing and s’more making. Mmmmm s’mores.

Dodo birds went extinct a long time ago. Hopefully The Dodos will be around for a while.
