New Music From Phoenix: Twenty-One One Zero

How far would you go for love? ™

Well, I’d go all the way to France to profess my undying love for every word that comes out of Thomas Mars‘ mouth. It’s true! New music from Phoenix - finally! I’ve been waiting and waiting. Refreshing. Hassling record labels. And now, there’s a new song.

Download the new track from the band’s website - it’s featured on Cartier (yep, the jeweller)’s official website in the soundtrack section. Click around in the top right corner - they’re the last in the dropdown list. And then repeat until you’re sick of the song (ie never).

Twenty-One One Zero is almost entirely instrumental, just like North, the luscious track from their last album It’s Never Been Like That. I hate to repeat myself (do I, though?) but it’s a beautiful “crescendo-ing” song. It’s three whole minutes of constant buildup, and then at the very end there’s a little a cappella bit and the song ends. I think it’s stunning.

Can’t wait to hear more when their fourth album (as yet untitled) is released later this year! For now though, I’m gonna go listen to this track over and over again - incessantly.
