Nick Cannon says American Idol can’t afford Mariah Carey

Rumours have been swirling around everywhere about American Idol and who will potentially take the seats of Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler on the judges panel next season. Last week, we reported that producers have been talking to pop icon, Mariah Carey, about signing on so, naturally, TMZ went straight to Carey’s husband, Nick Cannon, to see if the rumours were true.

When asked if his wife, Mariah, is being considered for the reality show, Cannon tells cameras, “I don’t know if they can afford Mariah Carey. That’s a lot of money. If they gave J.Lo $20 million, they might have to double that!”

With that kind of pay, Mariah Carey would be the only judge on the show (we’d be okay with that)!
