Nicki Minaj covers Complex Magazine with sartorial 70’s psychedelia

Nicki Minaj fiercely covers the 10th anniversary issue of Complex magazine, embellished with vaguely tribal designs and target marks. Shot by Christian Anwander, Nicki rocks some Ralph Lauren, Obesity & Speed, and Patricia Field. And these photos are seriously striking! I’ll most likely be lured into buying a copy once these babies hit the shelves.

According to Refinery29, the celeb profile is apparently a really great read, with Minaj dropping gems like “I’m doing it to prove that I can do it. To prove to myself that I don’t have to settle for less because I’m a female rapper or because I’m black.”

Kudos to her for being so adamant about her career. She says she manages her whole image herself, from the swanky music videos to the outlandish runway outfits. It’s all Minaj, left, right and center. She might be super over-the-top, but girl knows what she wants. Love that attitude!
