Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban close to sealing the deal with American Idol

Now we’re getting somewhere! Reports have it that rapper Nicki Minaj and country star Keith Urban are close to finalizing a deal with American Idol to become the newest judges on the panel.

According to sources, Minaj has been offered an $8 million contract for the season, as well as additional money to cover wardrobe, hair and makeup; a significant fraction of new judge Mariah Carey’s $18 million paycheque. If things go well, Minaj could sign the contract as soon as today or tomorrow.

Urban, on the other hand, is also close to sealing the deal with the reality TV show for $3-4 million. Apparently, fellow country singer Brad Paisley – who was also up for consideration – pulled out of the running after the show refused to match his pay to Minaj’s.
