Nicole Richie and Joel Madden engaged

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have finally gotten engaged.

Richie announced the news during the Monday afternoon taping of The Late Show with David Letterman, which is set to air this Friday.

Madden also confirmed his engagement to Nicole on Twitter this Monday, saying that the two have actually been set to marry for some time now: “Yep. i’m engaged. Very happy,” he posted. “Yeah we’ve been engaged for a while so your all kind of late on that. But Thanks for the hooplah all the same.”

The socialite/jewelry designer and the Good Charlotte frontman have two kids together, five-month-old son Sparrow and two-year-old daughter Harlow.
