While it was a little surprising to hear that Nine Inch Nails architect Trent Reznor was scoring the “Facebook movie,” actually seeing the often brooding goth icon appear in black tie at last night’s Golden Globes was downright shocking.
And then he won.
Along with partner Atticus Ross (who is also a member of Reznor’s new band How To Destroy Angels), the two collected the award for Best Original Score for The Social Network like true Hollywood types. But in their acceptance speech, Trent admitted he was as weirded out as any of the NIN fans out there.
“A year ago I had no idea I’d have the opportunity to score a film,” Reznor said. “The idea of standing up here to accept this award is surreal.”
What’s even more surprising is how sincere and excited Reznor was in winning the award. Right after he accepted it, he found a moment to tweet the words: “Holy shit!”
Looks like this movie business is paying off. Reznor recently signed on to score David Fincher’s next project, his Americanized version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
