No Country For Old Men: Whaa?

February 14th, 2008

Even though I am a big fan of No Country For Old Men (that dialogue! suspense! pacing! acting! cinematography!), I can understand why a good handful of people aren’t. Simply: the last 5 minutes. I’m not convinced anyone actually “gets” it. If you’re the one person who does, congrats! Come Oscar night, this is for you, ya smug bastard:

  1. Oh.

    My.

    God.

The dialogue was the WORST PART OF THE MOVIE. It was sooo amateur and not memorable at ALL.

Pacing was also AWFUL - no reward at the end for sitting through all that crap.

    And the acting!?!?!?!?!

    Come on!

  2. This is a movie?!

  3. This was an excellent movie for those who have an attention span greater then that of a squirrel, and an IQ that at the very least hits the double digits.

You want to know what the movie was about? To put it as simple as possible for those who struggle with the concept of thinking, the movies message was that life is shit. Sometimes you don’t catch the bad guy in the end but life still keeps ticking away.

In a world of computer graphics, high budgets, and gullible audiences, movies have become mundane and repetitive. No Country For Old Men sets out against that trend and presents a realistic view of how crimes were solved back in the day.

But it, watch it, love it. It is a piece of cinematic history.
