As both a member of Odd Future and a solo artist, Tyler, the Creator attracts controversy like a fly to, well, y’know. After a pretty serious bidding war, it appears XL Recordings is the label most willing to test out their limits.
The Cali-based, 19-year-old rapper has signed a one-record deal to XL to release his album, Goblin and will maintain “full creative control and will eventually receive his masters back.”
Tyler confirmed it on Twitter, writing, “Yes, I Did A One Album Thing With XL. Thats Family. Don’t Trip, Still Have %100 Creative Control Over Raps, Beats, Videos, Covers. F**k You.”
So far, the advanced word is ridiculously strong. The rapper posted his new video for “Yonkers” last Thursday and it’s already received more than 400,000 views. Watch it below, but viewer discretion is advised.
If you’re new to Tyler and/or Odd Future, you’d best check out their performance this coming Wednesday night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon… if they even make it that far.
