Of Montreal, Blonde Redhead, Buzzcocks to play Calgary’s Sled Island

Calgary-based music festival Sled Island has announced the first round of artists confirmed to play the fifth instalment. From June 22nd to 25th, Of Montreal, Blonde Redhead, the Dandy Warhols, the recently reunited Sleep, the Greenhornes, and local visionary Chad VanGaalen will perform at the festival, with legendary pop punks Buzzcocks headlining one night.

Curators for the event are DC’s underground hero Ian Svenonious (Nation of Ulysses, Make-Up), CBC Radio 3 host/author Grant Lawrence and Vancouver band Bogus Tokus have been named the curators of the festival.

Tickets for Sled Island 2011 will go on sale at 9am on Saturday, March 19th at sledisland.com.
