Oh Matty Bratty…lemme tell ya a story about a band that had huge success in the 80s. I know you don’t remember that time, but they also had some hits in the 90s too…so you might know them. Actually, I hear they’re putting the finishing touches on a new album as I type this!

Their name is Duran Duran. And when I was 10 years old, I was convinced that I would grow up to marry noneother than Mr. John Taylor himself. The 13 year age difference, didn’t phase me. I was sure that once I was legal, it would be straight to the altar!

This fandom in my formative years knew no limits. I kid you not when I tell you that I even had Duran Duran and John Taylor earrings. From its peak at age 12 though, the obsession has been in steady decline as real live boys replaced fantasy pop star boyfriend. And, of course, as knew fantasy pop star boyfriends caught my attention.

I have to confess, that now, years and years later – I’ve come to realize that I might not grow up to marry John Taylor. And I almost feel guilty that I’m not more disappointed.

Although I have the nostalgia of a first crush when I think of him, today I found the official John Taylor website and it didn’t make me swoon as it once would’ve. I giggled.

Don’t misunderstand – I don’t mean that in a bad way at all. I still think of him as a cutie and any listen to ‘Seven and The Ragged Tiger‘ makes me feel like the crush was just yesterday. And hey, I went to see Sugar Town!

But now I look at a grown up John Taylor with my grown up (sorta) eyes – and realize – I’m totally over him. ;)

Hey Kel, are you over Joey McIntyre yet?
