British pop band McFly are reuniting with One Direction to pen a new song for the boyband. In a new interview with BBC Newsbeat, bassist Dougie Poynter revealed that McFly have been working with Niall Horan for a “stadium epic” song.
This will be the fourth time that the two British pop groups are working together on music. McFly’s lead singer Tom Fletcher previously wrote I Want, I Would and Irresistible for One Direction’s albums, Up All Night and Take Me Home.
Poynter says that their challenge was to write songs that would compliment the settings that One Direction often perform in. “They play to arenas and stadiums around the world,” he said. “So I think it’s a bit of a challenge to come up with some songs to go with that.”
In an interview with MTV.co.uk back in December, Fletcher said he felt honoured to be writing songs for the boyband. “I only do it for people I really like because that’s when you do your best work,” said Fletcher. “So I hope the relationship with have with One Direction can continue.”
Although the songs McFly wrote for One Direction were only b-sides, they were still pretty good if you ask me. Based on Poynter’s description of the new song, it sounds like this latest collaboration could warrant a release as a single.
What do you think of the songs McFly has collaborated on with One Direction? Are you looking forward to this new song that Niall co-wrote?
