This week actor and musician Johnny Depp invited boy band One Direction to his Los Angeles home studio in order to impress his 13-year-old daughter, Lily Rose. A source told The Sun newspaper “Johnny found out 1D were in town and, after making a few calls, they came round. He brought out his piano and guitars for the boys to test and they had a little jam session. Lily Rose just watched with her blushing mates while her dad temporarily joined the world’s biggest boy band.”
Johnny, who also has 10-year-old son Jack John with former partner Vanessa Paradis, has previously showcased his musical talents by appearing on Oasis’ track Fade Away and writing and performing part of the track Banga by Patti Smith. Depp has also performed live with groups including The Black Keys and The Pogues.
The band also got to meet Jay-Z while in his hometown, with 1D member Liam Payne tweeting a picture of their pair with the caption “Alssoooo my biggest news todayy i met one of my idols and couldnt even look him in the eye…”.
Meanwhile, One Direction have continued their trip to the US to promote their new album Take Me Home, performing in front of five English-style red telephone boxes in Manhattan during the Today Show.
They also appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres TV show, where Harry explained his latest tattoos, a pair of birds on his chest. Styles told Ellen “I got two little birdies. I like them, they’re kind of like sailory, about travelling. Birds fly. We fly a lot.”Tweet
