Spinner.com reports that 2 years after their last album, the guys of Pearl Jam are back in the studio working on a new album. This time they’ve gone back to their “heyday” by re-teaming with producer Brendan O’Brien who worked on their 1993 Vs. album and 1994’s Vitalogy.

Guitarist Mike McCready said, “We are working on a new record right now, so we are in the process of writing a bunch of new songs… We will try to do a record sometime this year, but that’s about all we got. We’ve got about four or five tunes ready to go right now. They are just in the early phases.”

No release date has been set but here’s to hoping that we’ll have this album on our respective mp3 players within the year.
