After taking time off in 2009 to give birth to her first daughter Willow, Pink is back with not only a new album, The Truth About Love, but some big-time sponsorship deals. As the new face of Cover Girl and soon to be seen in Target commercials, Pink’s re-entry onto the music charts will be all encompassing.
Taking over the cover of this month’s Billboard Magazine, Pink talks about the new chapter in her life, including The Truth About Love and the star-studded line-up of producer’s and songwriters she’s assembled for her sixth studio album. Working with long-time collaborator Butch Walker, as well as Max Martin and Shellback, Pink will also be teaming up with new faces on the disc, including Jeff Bhasker, best known for producing Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Fun.’s hugely successful sophomore disc, Some Nights (lead singer Nate Ruess appears on Pink’s new album on the track Just Give Me a Reason). The producer-artist connection doesn’t stop there. DJ Khalil, who produced Eminem’s comeback record Recovery, also appears on The Truth About Love, as does Eminem on the album’s track Here Comes The Weekend.
In the mag, Pink talks about upping the ante on her stage show, which already includes acrobatic performances from the singer, saying “I might have to light myself on fire. I’ve been to Vegas, seeing what’s the next impossible feat. For a while, everybody had dancers who got to do all the fun stuff, and I was saying to myself, “I can do that and sing.” So that was my challenge.”
Pink also addresses the rumours surrounding trouble in her marriage to retired motorcross champion Carey Hart as a result of her dramatic lyrics, saying “It’s funny. I wrote “Family Portrait” when I was 21 and my parents divorced when I was 9, so I tend to hold onto things. I’m still exorcising some of those demons. And look, I’m in a relationship that I’ve been in for 10 years and it’s never going to be perfect. Carey always jokes, “You’re always just mad enough at me to write a song.” “Yep. Thanks, baby, you’re my muse.”
Pink’s new album The Truth About Love hits stores on September 18, but you can catch Pink before then when she debuts a new song during her performance at the 2012 MTV VMAs airing September 6th on MUCH with the black carpet starting at 7 pm ET, followed by the awards show at 8 pm ET.
