It’s official! The A-Ca-Mazing Pitch Perfect is getting a sequel and returning to pitch-slap theatres in 2015. After months of speculation, Universal Pictures has confirmed that the hilarious 2012 A Capella comedy will get a follow up.
The studio has also confirmed that Pitch Perfect writer Kay Cannon will return, though stars Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson have yet to sign on to the sequel. Pitch Perfect’s Skylar Astin told MTV last December that he was meeting with Universal to discuss the project as well.
After hitting theatres last October, Pitch Perfect has earned more than $113 million worldwide, with the soundtrack spending an impressive 28 weeks on the Billboard chart.
The film has been back on the radar in the past week, with MTV Movie Awards host Rebel Wilson performing alongside her cast during the show’s opening on Sunday. Kendrick, who was not present for Sunday’s mash up of Miley Cyrus’ The Climb, Eminem’s Lose Yourself, Alicia Keys’ Girl on Fire and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ Thrift Shop, released a music video by director Jason Moore for her song Cups (When I’m Gone) from the Pitch Perfect soundtrack.Tweet
