PLL Episode 2: Explosions, Peeping Toms…& Spooning

Moments after the funeral, Pretty Little Liars picks up right where we left off as the girls dive right into “the Jenna thing” and Emily and Aria slide deeper into their forbidden relationships.

The funeral has just ended and it’s time for the guilt-o-meter to kick into high gear! The girls begin to discuss “the Jenna thing” and realize they should have told the truth about their mistake from the beginning. But before we learn what exactly that mistake in, we hear the TAP TAP TAP of Jenna’s walking stick enter the scene. The girls quickly make a getaway….but you have to wonder: can Jenna SEE them get away?

We do learn one little detail about Alison’s life: she was dating a secret older man that no one knew about (except Spencer). Maybe he had something to do with Alison’s murder?

While at school, the four girls are summoned to the principal’s office for a meeting with Detective Wilden. Apparently he’s aware of how rehearsed their stories are surround Alison’s disappearance and murder and lets them know just that. He’s on to you pretty little liars!

The girls try to collect their scattered thoughts at lunch but Jenna enters TAP TAP TAP-ing again, and this time, we get a flashback into what the “Jenna” thing really was. Alison wanted to teach a peeping Tom named Toby a lesson for spying on her. So she takes her four minions and decides to play a trick on peeping Toby. Even though Aria, Hanna, Spencer and Emily are not on board, Alison ropes them all in and all hell breaks loose.

The stink bomb/real bomb/firecracker/ whatever it was explodes in the garage where they think Toby is hiding (but from the looks of it Alison sees something else…) and later they see Jenna was in the garage instead, and the explosion severed her vision with the world forever.

Or did it?

Aria lets her father Byron know that she’s disgusted with her father for cheating on her mother with one of his students. This is because she’s proud of the fact she made the decision to stop doing this exact same thing with her teacher. That is until she accidentally accepts a ride home from him in the rain. Then it’s all honky-dory with daddy because like father, like daughter, they both can’t keep romance out of the classroom.

Hanna apologizes to her mom for making her sleep with the detective in order for her shoplifting charges to be dropped. Unfortunately, that same cop lets Hanna know the deal didn’t call for any murder charges to be dropped….so he’s still going to be on her like white on rice.

Hanna tries for some happiness by offering sex to her boyfriend Sean. But for some reason he turns her down. He’s the son of a priest, and of course those stories don’t’ end well, so he figures he should wait. Hanna’s even more depressed now…..

Spencer is still flirting with her sister’s man (would you even want to be with someone that would cheat on your sister? Like really!). But apparently Spencer’s family and their unrealistic levels of perfection are forcing her into Wren’s arms and lips….and Melissa finally notices!

Emily continues to cozy up to Maya, including having a slumber party of two, and spooning for the whole night. But the next day, after Emily’s boyfriend makes a few gay jokes she decides to set the record straight and make out with Ben on the spot! So much for Emily finding herself, eh? In the end, Emily is still questioning her sexuality, and if there’s anything wrong with her. Adding to that is “A” continuing taunting of what they used to have…

The biggest surprise comes at the end as a jogging Spencer (trying to outrun the shame of destroying her sister’s marriage?) sees Jenna sitting down with her phone and sending a text message via voice control. Every fibre of my being tells me that Jenna could be “A”!

Got a secret, can you keep it? Swear this one you’ll save. Better lock it, in your pocket, taking this one to the grave. If I show you then I know you won’t tell what I said. Cause two can keep a secret, if one of them is dead…Don’t Miss A Single Secret From Pretty Little Liars!
