Polaris Music Prize Spotlight: Broken Social Scene

With only ten days left until one of the coolest award ceremony’s graces our channel with its awesomeness, Polaris is giving you fine people a sampler of the ten amazingly-rad musicians on the Polaris 2010 Short List! Today we shine the spotlight on super group Broken Social Scene!
Who: At any time the membership of Broken Social Scene can range between six and nineteen members. The group was formed by Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning in Toronto and consists of band mates who are part of multiple music acts. The supergroup has released four studio albums and their songs have been featured on a number of film and television soundtracks, including Wicker Park and Queer As Folk.
Sounds Like: A combination of all members and their groups, including Feist, Metric, Stars, Apostle of Hustle and The Weakerthans.
Didjya Know: A performance by Broken Social Scene at Toronto’s Harbourfront in July of 2009 was used in the film This Movie Is Broken. The combination documentary/fictional film centred around a couple attending the Harbourfront show.
