With only nine days until one of the coolest award ceremony’s graces our channel with its awesomeness, Polaris is giving you fine people a sampler of the ten amazingly-rad musicians on the Polaris 2010 Short List! Today we shine the spotlight on Caribou!
Who: Caribou is a musical alias for Daniel Snaith. Snaith, who was born in London, ON and grew up a stone’s throw away in Dundas, ON, is a one man electro-band who often performs with a live band. Starting out his career under the name Manitoba, Snaith later renamed his outfit to Caribou to avoid a lawsuit. In 2007 Caribou won the coveted Polaris Music Prize.
Sounds Like: With a combination of electronic and pop infused music Caribou’s sound can be compared to everyone from Moby to The Smiths.
Didjya Know: Caribou’s Daniel Snaith is not only an award winning musician, but also has his PhD in Mathematics.
