Polaris Music Prize Spotlight: Dan Mangan

With only six days until one of the coolest award ceremony’s graces our channel with its awesomeness, Polaris is giving you fine people a sampler of the ten amazingly-rad musicians on the Polaris 2010 Short List! Today we shine the spotlight on Dan Mangan!

Who: Born and raised in BC, Dan Mangan grew up listening to The Beatles, Nick Drake and Van Morrison, influences that can still be heard in his work. Since releasing his first EP in 2003 at age 20, Mangan has released a second EP and two records, including 2009′s Polaris Short Listed Nice, Nice, Very Nice.

Sounds Like: Everything from Woody Guthrie to The Weakerthans to Radiohead to Bon Iver.

Didjya Know: Mangan’s Polaris nominated Nice, Nice, Very Nice is inspired by a line from a Kurt Vonnegut novel.
