With only eleven days until one of the coolest award ceremony’s graces our channel with its awesomeness, Polaris is giving you fine people a sampler of the ten amazingly-rad musicians on the Polaris 2010 Short List! Today we shine the spotlight on Montreal rockers, The Besnard Lakes!
Who: It doesn’t get more Canadian than naming your band after a lake in Northern Saskatchewan. The Besnard Lakes, surprisingly from Montreal, formed in 2003 and have since released three albums, including the Polaris Short Listed The Besnard Lakes Are The Roaring Night.
Sounds Like: The quartet has been compared to everyone from Roy Orbison and The Beach Boys to Pink Floyd and Queen.
Didjya Know: The Besnard Lakes composed the score for actor Mark Ruffalo’s directorial debut in his film Sympathy for Delicious.
Hear now: Check out videos from The Besnard Lakes and don’t forget to download the amazing Polaris Music Prize Short List sampler from iTunes. Watch the 2010 Polaris Awards live online on Monday September 20 at 8pm ET and on broadcast on Saturday September 25 at 9pm ET.
