Polaris Music Spolight on Braids!

With only a few days days left until one of the coolest award ceremonies graces our site with its awesomeness, Polaris is giving you fine people a sampler of the ten amazingly-rad musicians on the Polaris 2011 Short List (stream all the albums here)! Today we shine the spotlight on Braids!

Who: The Calgary born foursome consisting of high school friends Raphaelle Standell-Preston, Katie Lee, Austin Tufts and Taylor Smith relocated to Montreal in 2008, where they wrote and recorded their debut album Native Speaker. The album was given favourable reviews, earning the band comparisons to Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene.

Didjya Know: The group formed over a blueberry muffin in their high school cafeteria.
