Polaris Music Spotlight: Ron Sexsmith

With only a few days days left until one of the coolest award ceremonies graces our site with its awesomeness, Polaris is giving you fine people a sampler of the ten amazingly-rad musicians on the Polaris 2011 Short List (stream all the albums here)! Today we shine the spotlight on Ron Sexsmith!

Who: Born in St. Catherines, ON and based in Toronto, Ron Sexsmith began playing music in his teens. Between 1991 and 2011 he has released twelve solo albums and contributed on countless tracks with other artists. Many of Ron’s songs have been covered by notable artists, including Feist, Rod Stewart and Nick Lowe. One of the Sexsmith’s biggest hits, Gold In Them Hills, featured vocals by Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

Didjya Know: Sexsmith started his first band when he was only 14 years old.
