Polaris Music Spotlight: The Weeknd

Today we shine the spotlight on The Weeknd!

Who: Solo artist Abel Tesfaye shot to the top of the music communitie’s radar when fellow Torontonian Drake told reporters he would be working with the Tesfaye’s project called The Weeknd. The free release of House of Balloons, The Weekends first official mixtape, had such a huge response that it crashed the artists’ site. House of Balloons gained even more notoriety when its track High For This was used in the promo for the final season of HBO’s Entourage.

Sounds Like: Drake, Massive Attack

Didjya Know: House of Balloons is part of a three mixtape collection, including the recently released Thursday and the upcoming release Echoes of Silence.
