The girls have been sending messages to Spencer all night, but she hasn’t returned any of their calls and doesn’t show up to school. The Principal finds the girls and has Melissa by his side. Spencer didn’t come home last night and Melissa is going to the police, but wants to check with the girls first to see if they know anything.

Spencer is nearby, safe and sound in Radley. She’s listed herself as a Jane Doe and is pretending to not know her name. Spencer is putting her parent’s piano lesson money to good use and serenading the community room at Radley. She’s interrupted by her first visitor, Dr. Sullivan, who knows exactly who Spencer really is. She was called in to evaluate a Spencer and learns that her former patient wanted to spend a night not being Spencer. She tells Dr. Sullivan about finding Toby’s body and says that she is the reason Toby is dead. Dr. Sullivan tells Spencer that she’s going to call the Hastings and then the police.

The girls decide to begin looking for Spencer in all her favourite places where they know the police won’t look. Unfortunately, they all seem to give up after about five minutes and go home. Seriously, they do almost zero looking. Remind me to not list any of them as my emergency contacts. Ashley and Hanna meet Pastor Ted for coffee when Dr. Wilden shows to say ‘Hello’ to Ted. Annnnnnd I’m pretty sure both Marin women just threw up in their mouths. So, he’s not dead? There goes my theory that the body Spencer saw in the woods was Wilden’s with a tattoo. Ashley is scheduled to go to a seminar in New York and is up for a job promotion in the city. Hanna wants her mom to go and give them a chance to get out of Rosewood and away from Wilden.

Aria, who is also not looking for Spencer, talks to Byron about finding Ezra a job at Hollis. Byron goes to see Ella at work at they discuss what to do about Ezra, and they agree that they should help Ezra, though both are hoping that Aria’s relationship with her older boyfriend will end soon.

Bryon goes to Ezra’s apartment and Ezra stresses that he never asked Aria for help. Byron talked to his Dean and found out that there was no room for Ezra, but he still wants to help him in order to help Aria.

Emily gets an invite to The Brew from Shana of all people, who introduces her to US Olympic Gold Medalist SWIMMER Missy Franklin. Doesn’t Shana hate Emily because she’s dating Paige? This is a super nice move and also a super suspicious one. Why didn’t Shana invite Paige? She’s also a swimmer and actually knows Shana.

Finally alerted to her sister’s location, Melissa wants to try to get Spencer out of Radley, but Spencer is happy to sit in the hospital and wait for her 72 hour psych evaluation to expire. Melissa tells the girls that Spencer was found wandering around the woods and had been there all night, but they have no idea why Spencer would do that. Why would Hanna push a police car into a shallow river? We all do stupid things.

Spencer befriends a nurse and is shocked when his nametag comes into view. He’s E. Lamb, the name that Toby used to sneak into Radley and help Mona. Coincidence? Probably not. The E stands for Eddie and Spencer begins asking Eddie about his badge and how the chip in it works with the doors. He admits that there was trouble with the old badges and everything had to be replaced. Eddie comes back later and Spencer tells him about Toby, explaining that she thinks Toby was breaking Mona in and out of Radley. Eddie admits that they also have problems with the visitor passes and says that there was someone on staff that was tampering with the system. Wren? I’m going with Wren. Oh, and Spencer is in Mona’s room. Time to start looking for clues!

Spencer sees the line “Will The Circle Be Unbroken” scratched into the desk in the room and has a flashback. Spencer remembers Mona singing this song in church and Ali making fun of her. On their way out of church that day, Alison revealed a diary she was keeping, telling Spencer that she had many more books that Spencer would need to help her carry on Ali’s work after she was gone. Did anyone ever have a normal conversation with Alison?

Emily goes to Dr. Sullivan’s office and learns that Spencer thinks she saw Toby’s dead body. The police haven’t found anything and can’t get in contact with the Cavanaugh family.

The next day, Dr. Sullivan tells Spencer that the police haven’t found Toby and that she can’t see her friends, but will deliver Spencer’s message that Spencer misses them.

Eddie finds Spencer by the piano again and tells her that the only Toby he’s ever known was a little boy that used to visit his mother at Radley. Eddie doesn’t think it’s a coincidence and neither does Spencer. But what does it mean?

The girls are trying to come up with a way to see Spencer in Radley while she’s not allowed visitors when Mona walks into the bathroom and asks why there aren’t four of them. Aria lunges at Mona, but stops when she is called to the principal’s office.

Ezra has applied to the school board to work as a substitute teacher and Aria lies, saying that she no longer sees Ezra socially. Could this be the last straw in Ezria? Is his application essentially the same as Ezra breaking up with Aria?

Now that she’s been made aware of Spencer’s whereabouts by the girls, Mona visits Spencer at Radley, and tells Spencer that Ali was never pregnant. She knows this because she stole Alison’s diaries and tells Spencer that she has all the answers to questions Spencer hasn’t even thought to ask. Question 1 – where’s Toby?

Ashley drops Hanna off at Emily’s house on her way to New York City and as soon as she’s out of sight, Wilden pulls up in a new car. Hanna approaches the police officer, who demands to know where his car is, but Hanna refuses to say anything. Why does he want his car so badly? Is there someone in it? There’s totally someone in it. Maybe Cece? She’s was awfully scared of Wilden. Or Toby? I’m still not convinced the body in the woods was really Toby. There could be someone else in Rosewood with the same tattoo. Maybe Toby shared a room with someone while he was in Juvenile Hall and they got matching tattoos? Does Wilden just want the video of him threatening Ashley destroyed?

Spencer is attending a group therapy session when she has a break down, or a break through. She begins to imagine her friends in the room and realizes they don’t know who she is anymore. Does Spencer even know who she really is at this point?
