It’s the Season 3 finale of Pretty Little Liars and we finally get answers to questions that have been plaguing us since the first season. But with Pretty Little Liars we know that with answers comes shocking new questions. SHOCKING.

Spencer is back home and the girls are nervous to see their friend out of the hospital. Emily is still upset about the police finding what she thinks is Toby’s body in the woods. The body was sent to the state coroner, which gives Hanna hope that it’s not their old friend. Spencer, on the other hand, thinks they lost Toby a long time ago.

The Hastings are throwing a party to welcome Spencer home and she asks her friends to be there on Friday night at The Lodge to support her, but are they supporting Spencer their friend or Spencer, the member of the A team?

Mona is in her new mobile clubhouse with another member of the A team. Who dat? Mona says that the other member will get their reward on Friday and “those bitches will finally get what they deserve”. Her language is not very lady like.

The girls meet at school the next morning and Spencer asks whether Malcolm identified Alison. Aria says he acted normally and said nothing, but Hanna wants to show him pictures of Mona and see if he recognizes her. Aria puts her foot down and insists that no one try to get information from a seven year old. She has a point.

The girls are interrupted by Shana, who apparently has been texting Emily while Paige is away. Who goes away in the middle of the school year and why is Shana texting Emily? Thankfully, Emily assures the girls she’s keeping her distance since she thinks Shana is bad news. Me too, Emily.

Aria catches Ezra’s eye and sees him shaking hands with the other teachers at Rosewood. He’s there for an interview, but assures Aria that a job at the school won’t work out. Instead of giving Ezra the chance to explain what he means, Aria walks away. I think she’s serious about this breakup.

At home, Byron is livid after hearing from Ella that Ezra was offered a job at Rosewood High and is taking the night to think about it. Aria manages to calm her father down and assure him that Ezra working at her school won’t be an issue. Aria decides to try break up number two and meets Ezra at a park. Ezra tells Aria that he didn’t say anything to her about the job offer because he didn’t want the burden of the decision making placed on her. Knowing that he needs this job to take care of his son, Aria tells Ezra that she loves him and needs him to take the job. They can’t get back what they had before Malcolm and Maggie and Aria is done trying to make things normal. EZRIA IS OVAH! Yes, yes, this is sad, but the whole relationship has never sat well with me. He’s her teacher. The end.

Showing that Ezra still has learned nothing from losing his job and almost his career over dating a student, he goes in for one last kiss the next day IN THE SCHOOL STAIRWELL. I have no sympathy for Ezra. He makes terrible decisions. And needs to ease up on the flannel.

We’re back in the woods (nothing good happens in the woods) and Jenna is meeting Shana. WOW! Did anyone else kinda forget about Jenna? Plus, Shana? She is bad news!

What the heck are these two doing together? Are they dating or just friends? Jenna has been with Toby, Garrett and now possibly Shana. Maybe her type is people she thinks can keep her alive. Jenna tells Shana that her doctor’s appointment didn’t go well and that soon she will completely lose her sight. I’m pretty sure Jenna is evil, but that’s a terrible diagnosis.

Emily is out for a run later and sees Melissa go into the Cavanaugh house. She creeps along the window and overhears Melissa talking to Jenna and Shana, telling the girls that they need to be at Spencer’s party on Friday.

Is Melissa trying to kill her own sister or just her sister’s friends? Either way, she bad bad, but the short hair looks great.

Hanna decides to ignore Aria’s request that no one speaks with Malcolm and offers to babysit for Ezra. He agrees to give her a test run that night and Hanna quickly gets to work showing Malcolm pictures of Mona, Alison and Jenna. He doesn’t recognize any of the girls as the ‘Alison’ who took him to the circus, but when a picture of Spencer and Alison is sent to Hanna’s phone from an anonymous sender, Malcolm recognizes Spencer as Hanna’s friend. Roh row.

Hanna tells the girls, who all refuse to believe that Spencer has crossed over to the dark side, but how can the test her loyalty? With Emily’s new information about Friday night they need to come up with a plan and fast. I hope it’s better than pushing Wilden’s car into a lake. That plan was weak.

We’re back at the diner from Season 2 and someone in a hood is sitting a table waiting for…TOBY! Toby is alive! He almost dies for real when he sees the person on the other side of the hood is Spencer, not Mona. Anyone else getting a Girl With The Dragon Tattoo vibe?

Toby is upset that Mona let Spencer believe he was dead and promises that everything he has done has been to protect her. He doesn’t know who the girl in the red coat is, but does know that she’s calling all the shots. Oh Toby, I can’t stay mad at you. The reunion is a sad one. Spencer tells Toby that she’s stooped to new lows. Mona told her that Toby would be her reward for delivering her friends to the party on Friday and she’s already kidnapped a seven year old to earn Mona’s trust. When Mona wasn’t look, Spencer sent Toby the text to meet her at the hotel.

Mona doesn’t know they’re together or where Toby is staying, which turns out to be a hotel a few miles with away. With a bed. This part of the reunion is not sad at all. Hot, but not sad.

Spencer has found her clothes and put away her straightener to head back to school and try to be normal. That lasts about five seconds until she sees the girl in the red coat. Spencer begins following her through a crowd of students gathered for the swim meet and finally gets the girl alone in the bathroom. Dun dun dunnnn!

It’s Hanna! And Aria and Emily! The girls are relieved to see that Spencer doesn’t know the identity of the girl in the red coat, which they think means she isn’t really a member of the A team. Well, Toby doesn’t know either, but their plan still works and everyone can work together again. Spencer tells the girls that she sent Hanna the picture of herself so that Malcolm would recognize her, clueing her friends into her double identity. She really is the smart one. The party is a set up because A wants everyone to be together, but how are they going to take down A without Mona finding out?

It’s the night of the party and still posing as a member of the A team, Toby videotapes the girls getting ready and shows Mona, failing to tell her they shot it earlier in the day.

Mona is paranoid that A is arriving and the girls are still not there, but Spencer promises her friends are on their way.

Meanwhile, Aria, Hanna and Emily break into the lodge and watch as Toby pretends to turn on Spencer and lead her into the woods, giving them a chance to catch Mona off guard.

Toby and Spencer have taken off into the woods when they see a group of people with flashlights. Toby sends Spencer away to keep her safe and investigates the group, only to knocked unconscious by someone with a flashlight.

Spencer sees A landing in a small plane (fancy) and tries following her, but loses the red coat right after Spencer recognizes its owner – Alison.

Mona is shocked to see them there, but everyone is even more shocked when someone locks all the doors and sets the lodge on fire with the four girls inside. The girls are inside the house trying to figure out how they’re going to survive when Mona admits in her panicked state that she doesn’t know who A really is and has never met the person in the red coat.

They all pass out from smoke inhalation and are pulled to safety by…Alison. Mona and Hanna wake up in time to see the dead girl, but Aria and Emily are having trouble believing the teenager they buried pulled them all from a house fire.

Alone in the woods (see! Nothing good in the woods!) Toby wakes up and finds a lighter next to him with a compass on it. I assume this was left next to him to frame him for the fire.

The five girls are driving back to Rosewood (no Toby?) when Mona begins to tell them what she knows, or at least begins to lie to them some more. Mona says she was at the cemetery the night Emily was drugged, but the girl in the red coat was wearing a mask.

Their conversation is interrupted when they get to the centre of town and find Wilden’s police car on the road. That thing needs a good wash.

The video of Wilden threatening Hanna and Ashley hitting him with her car is still playing, but this version is longer. After Wilden was hit, it was Jenna and Shana who pulled him to safety!!!

The girls get a text from A that reads “You’re mine now, kisses, A”. Seeing that the trunk is open, the peer inside, screaming in horror at the contents. WHAT IS IN THE TRUNK?!

The final scene of Season 3 shows Alison’s hand coming out of the makeshift grave in the middle of her backyard. We’ve seen this before, but this time there is a hand on the other side pulling her out!
