With news that Melissa was never actually admitted to the hospital as she claimed she was for her miscarriage, her lies have skyrocketed her back to the top of the suspect list. Well, at least for Aria, Hanna and Emily. Spencer still refuses to believe that her sister could be helping A or be the black swan.

But Melissa isn’t the only one with eyes on her. Jason makes his first Season 3 appearance in a big way by finding Mrs. Hastings in the town coffee shop and screaming at her for representing Garrett. When Spencer chases her half-brother out of the coffee shop she sees that Jason is taking Alison’s missing body into his own hands by posting pictures of Alison with a note for a $50,000 reward to anyone who returns her body. Anyone find it strange that he used a drawing of Alison and not an actual picture?

Spencer tries talking to Jason about taking down the posters, scared that Emily may be thrown in jail for standing outside of Alison’s grave with a shovel, but Jason refuses to listen.

Worried that her mom will find out about her dad dating Meredith from a secondary source, Aria wants to tell her mom about the bad news. Instead, she tries encouraging Ella to go out for a girl’s night.

When Ella doesn’t jump at the idea, Aria and Hanna decide to sign Ella up for a dating site. Giggity.

While signing in to visit Mona, Hanna is told by the nurse that she’s no longer allowed visitors.

Later that day, Caleb surprises Hanna with concert tickets, but Hanna is more distracted by her phone call from Wren, who tells Hanna that Mona freaked out after a guy visited her.

Caleb admits that he visited Mona and Hanna, upset that Caleb interfered, tells him to stay out of her relationship with Mona.

Hanna decides that sneaking into the mental institution is a good idea, but before she can get anywhere near Mona’s room she sees Detective Wilden going in to visit Mona. Nothing good ever comes from that guy making an appearance.

Hanna decides that it’s time to tell Caleb that A is still after them, but before she can come clean she gets a text message from A showing a car crash.

Caleb walks in her room and tells Hanna that someone just ran his mom off the road. Scared for Caleb’s safety, Hanna changes her mind and refuses to tell him anything about A.

Frustrated with the secrecy, Caleb breaks up with Hanna. Noooooo Haleb! Wahhhh!

Emily is training at her new job as a barrista and gets a visit from Maya’s cousin Nate, who just moved to town and is enrolled at Hollis.

Emily meets up with Nate the next day and he gives her a gift that Maya had ordered for Emily before she went missing. It’s a tee shirt with a movie poster from their first date. Nate and Emily have lunch and Nate shares some nice memories about Maya.

Later when they meet up so that Nate can give a letter from Emily to Maya’s parents, Nate tell Emily that he’s thinking about leaving Hollis, since everyone in Rosewood constantly talks about Maya’s death. I automatically feel shady about everyone new on this show and Nate is the same.

In an attempt to find out whether Melissa is really the black swan, the girls devise a plan. Spencer makes a movie date with her sister to get her out of her apartment and give Aria, Hanna and Emily time to search it for clues.

But the girls break in before getting the all clear text from Spencer and half way through their mission they see Melissa returning home.

The girls have enough time to hide in the closet and once Melissa leaves, they find a garment bag with a feather that matches a feather the black swan wore.

Spencer reluctantly agrees to talk to Melissa and finally confronts her sister about her suspicions.

Melissa admits to being the black swan and Mrs. Hastings arrives in time to hear the whole truth. Melissa says that she lost her baby after Ian died and had been faking the pregnancy for months. She received the costume and a note on her doorstep telling her to dress as the blank swan or else her secret would be out. Melissa agreed and never heard back from the same source, leading her to think it was Mona who sent the note and costume since she was admitted to the hospital after the ball. Later, Mrs. Hastings finally admits to Spencer that Garrett knew about Melissa’s secret. She saw the witnesses his previous lawyer was going to call to trial and one of them was the Private Investigator they hired to follow Melissa after Alison’s death. Scared Garrett’s lawyer would come after Melissa, Mrs. Hastings took the case. That, I believe. Melissa being innocent? Hellz to the no.

While out for a walk that night, Spencer sees Jason on his porch. He tells his half-sister that she was right and that he’s called off the $50,000 reward for Alison. But as Spencer walks away we see Jason write a cheque and make a call, telling the person on the other end that he’ll meet them in a parking lot. Could this be someone he’s giving the reward to for Alison’s body? I’d say yes, or else that would be a weird thing to include in the scene.

Almost home, Detective Wilden pulls up next to Spencer and asks her how far it is to her parents Lake House. Oh shizz. He knows they lied about the graveyard!
