After finding the note saying ‘April Rose Has Proof’ that Garrett left in his mother’s medical wristband, Spencer and Hanna come up with a plan to replace the note with one telling A to meet them that night at the Church where Hanna has been volunteering.

The plan is going well, that is until Hanna sneaks into Mrs. Reynolds room to leave the note and finds her flat lining. Eeks! Mrs. Reynolds survives, but I’m pretty sure that scene aged me.

While looking for her extra sock in Ezra’s apartment, Aria instead finds a drawer full of cash. Like, my boyfriend is a drug dealer/bank robber cash. Could that be Jason’s $50,000 reward money?

Later that night, Aria confronts Ezra about the money. He admits that he sold his grandfather’s vintage Jaguar to help him out with his current unemployment situation.

Ezra says that he was embarrassed to tell Aria and didn’t want her to worry. Seems like a good story. But then he gives the drawer a glance and we put another check mark in the ‘Ezra is up to some bad shizz with A’ category.

Mr. Hastings gets home from his run and tell Spencer that the physical evidence the police had on Garrett Reynolds can’t be retested, either because it’s been tainted or can’t be used. Mrs. Hastings is pushing for the judge to deem the evidence unusable. Spencer, predictably, does not take the news well.

Spencer asks Jason to meet so that they talk about Garrett’s case. She needs help keeping him in jail and is hoping that Jason can help her find out how April Rose fits into the mystery. Jason thinks that maybe Ian and Garrett were paying girls to set up their friends for the NAT society to film and that April Rose could be one of the girls. Cree-pee.

Mr. Hastings finds Jason and asks him to stay away from Spencer and let her focus on anything but Garrett’s case. I think we all know Jason’s response to that request.
Jason finds April Rose, who isn’t a person, but a consignment store. Spencer and Jason race there and Spencer sees a charm bracelet that reminds her of an Alison memory. Alison wore the bracelet constantly and swore she would never take it off.

When Spencer shows the store owner the bracelet, he doesn’t recognize it or want to sell it without a tag. Jason offers him $400 and is able to score the bracelet.

Jason drops the charm bracelet off at the courthouse and tells the police that he got it from an anonymous tip. Spencer asks Jason whether he still has the letters that helped Jason figure out that they share a father, but Jason is reluctant to give Spencer something that he knows will hurt her.

Hanna managed to get the pick up location for the spot where Emily’s jacket came from. She tells Emily that she should wait until the next day when they can all check out the address together, but Emily decides to go on her own.

When she gets to the address, Emily finds a diner and has a flashback to the night she blacked out. Emily eats lunch and has another flashback, this time remembering someone writing her a note that said ‘I’m sorry I left you’ and having a tattoo on their wrist.

Hanna is volunteering again and finds out that there is going to be a party that night in the church rec room for all the volunteers. Hanna freaks a second time when she finds out that Ted, the volunteer organizer, has asked him mom to the church party as her date. Hanna panics and tells her mom that they can’t go to the dance together because Toby is taking her in an attempt to make a fictional volunteer jealous. This all could have been avoided if Hanna paid attention and picked somewhere other than the Church to meet A. I’m just sayin’!

Spencer and Hanna manage to convince Toby to go with Hanna to the dance, but he quickly realizes that they lied to get him there.

Before he can leave, Officer Wilden shows up and Hanna hides behind Toby.

Emily finally shows up at the Church dance and runs into Holden. Holden?! Anywho, Holden offers Emily a cupcake, exposing his tattoo from Emily’s memory.

But the tattoo is really a stamp that people get when they attend exclusive parties. Holden tells Emily that he used to see Maya at the parties, but I don’t think that’s who was with her at the diner.

Hanna waits in the church and is greeted by Detective Wilden, who has Hanna’s note. Whoops. Wilden seems to think that Hanna is trying to help get Garrett out of jail, but instead of defending herself, Hanna runs off.

The next morning, Mr. Hastings tells Spencer that the police have been looking for the anklet that she and Jason turned in for the past two years. The anklet still has blood on it that matches Alison’s DNA, but they can’t identify the second person. They do know that it’s not Garrett’s. The case has been thrown out and Garrett is being released. Did it not occur to her that the note Garrett left his mother would help him get out of jail? Spencer’s break down is interrupted by a text from A telling her that Garrett isn’t the killer. Blargh.
