Hanna is home alone for breakfast, but she gets some unwanted company when Detective Wilden stops by. He’s looking for the owner of the second blood type on Alison’s charm bracelet and he wants Hanna to visit the police station and give a blood sample.

Emily, Spencer and Aria stop at the coffee shop before school and overhear a girl who sounds just like Alison. Her name is Cece and she is an old family friend of the DiLaurentis’ and knows all the girls. She also dated Jason. Let’s put her on the suspect list. The girls are freaked out by how much Alison and the older girl resembles each other.

Later that day, Toby finds Spencer at school and confronts her about lying to him about Hanna’s dance. Spencer comes clean about the anklet and Toby reminds Spencer that at one time she thought he killed Alison and shouldn’t be so quick to assume Garrett is guilty. True dat, Toby.

Driving later that night, Spencer sees Jason crash into a car and finds him drunk and behind the wheel. She forces him to move over so that she can drive away from the car crash, but leaves her truck open and running.

Spencer comes home to find Toby waiting for her and demanding to know where she’s been. Before she can make up another excuse, Detective Wilden is at the door with a uniform police officer and demands to know why Spencer didn’t report her car stolen. Toby quickly covers for Spencer and says they’ve been home all night. This is a dangerous move for a guy with a record.

After school, Nate stops by the coffee shop to show Emily a candle he bought Jenna for their date. They’re going on a date? Roh row. Jenna told Nate that she was good friends with Maya and still is good friends with Emily. Is this sketchy or does she just not want to look lonely?

Emily agrees to help Nate find another gift for Jenna and they head to a nearby boutique, where Cece creepee works. Cece pulls Emily to the side and advises her to give Nate a heads up on Jenna is Emily feels so strongly that the girl is bad news.

Emily finally decides to sit down with Nate and tell him why he should stay away from Jenna, including her past with Garrett Reynolds. Instead of being wary of Jenna, Nate just sees Jenna as someone who needs his protection. Well, that didn’t go as planned.

On her way home from work, Emily runs into Cece and admits that she was unsuccessful in convincing Nate to stay away from Jenna. Cece takes Emily’s phone and pretends to enter her number, but instead calls Jenna and poses as Nate’s girlfriend, threatening to kill Jenna if she comes anywhere near Nate. So ya, Cece is crazy-town.

Aria and Hanna get to the Marin house after school to find a Ouija board set up on the kitchen table with a note from A telling Hanna that it was easy to get her blood. Hanna remembers the Ouija board from the summer Ali went missing, Hanna and Mona used it to try to connect with Alison’s spirit. That night, Hanna thought she saw Alison on her porch.

Since Mona is the only other person that was with Hanna the night of the Alison sighting, Aria decides that it’s her turn to pay Mona a visit at the hospital and try to get some answers. Aria gets to the hospital to find out that Mona’s visitation rights have changed and now Aria has to leave all her personal belongings at the front desk. I feel like this should have always been the case. She also isn’t allowed to have unsupervised visits anymore, so Aria waits for the nurse to get Mona’s medication and demands to know whether Mona has any idea who is sending the girls items from Ali’s grave. Mona tells Aria that it’s not her, but she doesn’t actually say that she doesn’t know who it is. Hmmm.

Hanna and Spencer are having coffee when Hanna spots Mr. DiLaurentis back in Rosewood. She approaches him and apologizes for ‘what she did’. What did she do? I’m so confused! Mr. DiLaurentis screams at Hanna to leave him alone and that she should be ashamed of herself. What did I miss?

From getting yelled at to getting no answers, Hanna meets Aria at the hospital and the girls decided to break in after visiting hours have finished in an attempt to get more information from Mona. . I feel like this is a good way to have yourself committed to the Sanitarium.

Hanna manages to get into Mona’s room and Mona begins talking about ‘that day’.

Hanna finally explains to Mona that the day she’s referring to is when she thought she saw Alison on her porch and called Mrs. DiLaurentis. Three days later, Alison’s body was found. Mr. DiLaurentis has always believe that Hanna was playing a childish prank on the family. That would be the meanest prank ever. Aria and Hanna are so engrossed in the story that they don’t notice Mona slipping out of her room.

Aria and Hanna see that Mona has used the tweezers she swiped from Hanna to break into the abandoned children’s wing and is brushing the hair of her dolls. Mona is mumbling a cryptic poem over and over, but before the girls can press her for more info, the nurses have found Mona and given Aria and Hanna barely enough time to hide.

Ella has met someone on the dating website Aria and Hanna signed her up for and she’s nervous to have her first date that night. When she shows up at the coffee shop to meet her date, it’s …Ted. As in, the guy Hanna’s mom Ashley went on a date with at the church dance.

Awkward! Ella ends the date quickly after feeling like Ted reminds her of Byron, but she does manage to get a second date that night with Emily’s boss Zack, who owns the coffee shop. Herrroooo!

Scared to stay home alone, Hanna spends the night at Aria’s house. Before she falls Ashley, Hanna realizes why Mona was saying the same cryptic poem over and over. It’s a trick Mona talk Hanna years before and the four girls meet to decode the poem.

It sends them to a website with a picture of Maya and a prompt for a password. Time to get Caleb back!

The final scene of A shows the murdered in the children’s wing, removing a tape recorder from one of the dolls, which has proof that Hanna and Aria broke into the hospital. Eeks.
